- Sea Fishing Rods
Each of these rods are to be used for different kinds of lure, bait and for different types of fishing. It is important to ask yourself, “what are the different types of fishing rods I can buy?” Below is a breakdown of some of the different types of fishing rods.
Casting Rods
Casting rods are fishing rods that help you to be able to put the bait wherever you want to with a casting motion. These rods are similar to the spinning rod, but they are bigger and sometimes the eyes are a little bit smaller. Another difference is that the casting reel is located on top of the rod.
Spin-Casting Rods
Spin-Casting rods are similar to casting rods, but they are usually not as heavy and are shorter. They are around 5-8 feet long, but they have a larger eye which helps to take away some of the friction that the casting rod has.
The Spinning rod has a reel that spins and that hangs under the rod. This makes the rod a little bit more comfortable for the fisherman because it is easier to hold and easier to catch fish with. Most people that are just learning to fish use spinning rods because they are easier to use.
Bait Casting Rods
These rods are harder to use, and you need to be skilled in order to use this type of rod. This kind of rod is very specific and accurate. A baitcasting rod can help fishermen improve the accuracy of their cast to improve their chances of catching fish.
Fly Rods
Fly Casting rods help you to be able to move the fly back and forth and they are very small, smaller than most other rods. These types of rods are perfect for fishing small fish in a stream or even large fish from the ocean.
A fly rod allows the fishermen to be able to cast fast and freely and it has something called snake eyes to help the line not get tangled.
Ice Fishing Rods
Ice fishing rods and reels are shorter because there is less area to move the rod. Most of the ice fishing rods do not use a reel and the line is lowered and raised by hand.
Sea/Saltwater Fishing Rods
These rods are used specifically to use in the ocean. They are super short to very long depending on if they are going to be used on the beach or on a boat. Some of the rods are super heavy so they can be used to fish for shark and other large fish.
Surf Fishing Rods
Surf fishing rods are very long and heavy, and the fishermen has to use two hands to cast a surf rod. These are like a spinning rod but are much heavier and can be used in harsher conditions. Surf fishing rods also allow the fisherman to cast much further than other traditional rods allow.
Trolling Rods
Trolling rods are used in moving boats and they are used for bigger fish. Most of these are very long and strong.
